Mike knows that the Unemployment Rate over the past few years has been relatively unchanged but numbers alone do not paint a complete picture of the job market on Long Island and in New York State as a whole.
Mike meets with hundreds of taxpayers on an annual basis and has first-hand knowledge of how the taxpayers of New York are impacted by, not only the availability of upward mobility in their careers but also the lack of wage increases that have taken place over the last decade.
As the cost of every-day living expenses and taxes have gone up taxpayer wages have not increased respectively. Taxpayers rarely have disposable income and the ability to save for unforeseen emergencies let alone retirement.
Mike believes that the key to success is to work to keep businesses In New York and on Long Island. Long Island has far too much to offer existing and Prospective Businesses. There is no reason why Businesses are continuing to leave our region or why Businesses are not attracted to, or even considering Long Island as a suitable location to settle.
Mike believes that our elected officials need to do more to create a Business Friendly environment for Businesses to operate. He believes that not enough is being done to find solutions that would attract businesses to our region.
Small Business Support:
Small Businesses are the back bone of Long Island and a driving force in the New York Economy.
New York State, however, is not friendly to Small Business Owners. New York State just continues to get increasingly harder for small businesses to operate and still remain viable.
As an Accountant and a Small Business Owner, Mike sees how changes to the minimum wage, the high cost of Worker’s Compensation Premiums and excessive Fines and Taxes increasingly put more pressure on the Small Business Owners’ and their ability to survive.
Mike knows that these are areas that need to be more closely examined in an effort to provide some much needed relief to these businesses. He believes that we need to give our Small Business Owners an opportunity to flourish and feed the State’s economy. Not overwhelm them with costly restrictions and larger fines and taxes that only prove to frustrate business owners and suppress the entrepreneurial spirit.
